Dissidents accept PML reconciliation committee, reject Hashmi as president


ISLAMABAD, Dec 12 (Online): The leaders of Muslim League dissident group Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi have accepted the reconciliation committee formed by Raja Zafar-ul-Haq but have rejected the recent appointment of Javed Hashmi as acting president of the party.

They asked the speaker of the suspended assembly Ilahi Bux Soomro to immediately call for a meeting of Muslim League Parliamentary party, to formulate the future course of action. They also announced to actively participate in the upcoming Local Body Polls.

The members of the reconciliation committee Ilahi Bux Soomro, Wasim Sajjad, Sartaj Aziz and Gohar Ayub met Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Ilahi at their residence and urged them to restore the unity of the party by accepting the recent appointments including that of acting president by Nawaz Sharif.

Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat said that we have agreed to the need of the reconciliation committee after the removal of Nawaz Sharif from the political scene. He added that further progress in the reunion efforts would be made after the end of alliance with PPP.

Replying to a question Shujaat said that Sheikh Rasheed has not joined the like-minded group
