Jamaat flays government action

LAHORE, Dec 10: The Jamaat-i-Islami on Sunday attacked the government for pardoning former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Secretary-general Munawar Hussain said the move was a "major blow" to the credibility of the ongoing drive to punish the corrupt.

The National Accountability Bureau should now be abolished, Hussain demanded in a statement. "It is unfortunate for the country that both the corrupt rulers of the country, Benazir and Sharif, have succeeded in taking refuge abroad," the Jamaat leader said.
