Nawaz Sharif didn't tender apology: Zafar Ali Shah
ISLAMABAD, December 12 (Online): Senior leader Pakistan Muslim, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, commenting on the deal between the government and Sharif family, has said no such deal has been struck with the military government adding that neither anyone has tendered apology nor political leaders do apologise. Nawaz Sharif has not tendered any apology.
Talking to Radio Tehran, Zafar Ali Shah said, "The Sharif family had filed a petition to the President of Pakistan who exercised his constitutional powers and pardoned his punishment except the fine".
Commenting on party's Executive Committee meeting held the other day, he said, " We discussed and reviewed country's situation and future course of action of the party. The meeting passed resolutions on democracy and accountability ordinance. These two resolutions were passed and some other decisions about party's organisation were also made".
"The meeting accorded formal approval to Javed Hashmi's appointment as acting party chief and Raja Zafarul Haq will work as the chairman", he added.
Answering a question regarding the likelihood of Sharif's taking part in political activities during his stay abroad, he said, "There is nothing of the sort that Nawaz would not take part in politics. Nawaz Sharif has not made any such commitment in writing. He will remain involved in limited activities owing to his illness. However, there is no such embargo or ban in this regard".
Talking about the PML's speculation of the restoration of the assemblies, he said, "Our party will consider it, not only our party rather the ARD and its leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Benazir, Altaf Hussain, Asfandyar Wali Khan, Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan would take a decision in this regard.
"Nawaz Sharif is not quitting the politics rather he will head the PML during his stay abroad like the PPP leadership. His going abroad does not mean at all that he would have no command on country's politics", he said while answering a question.
