PM Gilani declares Tharparkar calamity-hit       
MITHI, Sept. 19 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday declaring entire Tharparkar as a calamity-hit district, has appealed to the international community and political parties of the country to extend full assistance for relief and rehabilitation of the rain and flood victims.The Prime Minister said this during his visits to relief and medical camps set up by the local administration in Naukot Fort.He said each affected family would be given Rs 20,000, through Watan Card. Members of the Hindu community in large number also live in Naukot, who are like brothers and equal citizens of Pakistan, he added.Later, addressing the flood victims, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said no one can stop occurance of natural calamities. He appealed to all political entities in the country to play their role for providing relief to the rain affected people.
He said it is very painful that heavy rain and flood have left large number of people homeless. The government is making all out efforts to help them he added.

He said the PPP-led government is striving hard to provide every possible assistance to the affected persons. “We share grief of the rain and flood victims and we will not leave them alone”, the Prime Minister assured.
The Pakistan Army has also been asked to supply and distribute food items, medicines and other relief goods to the affected people through helicopters, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said.
He said that assistance would also be provided to the rain affected people through the Bait-ul-Mal and the Benazir Income Support Programme.
He said the PPP government had come into power due to sacrifice of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and prayers of the poor people.
Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani expressed the hope that the affected people would return to their homes soon.
Federal Ministers, Syed Khursheed Shah, Raja Pervez Asharaf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Senator Gul Muhammad Lot, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah as well as officials concerned of district Tharparkar were also present on the occasion.
