Prime Minister visits Sheikh Zayed Hospital
LAHORE, Sept 19 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital to review arrangements for free treatment of dengue patients. He went to each patient in the dengue ward, inquired about their health and presented fruit and bouquets to them. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was also present. The patients of dengue fever told the prime minister that they were getting free medical facilities. He expressed satisfaction over arrangements made by the hospital administration and directed it to make an all-out effort for their treatment.
Later, the prime minister visited Hepatopancreatico-Biliary and Liver Transplant Unit, Muhammad Arslan Ward at Liver Transplant Center and other departments of the hospital.
SZH Chairman Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal, briefing the prime minister, said 38 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital while 379 patients were in OPD and 385 in the emergency department.
Dr Zafar said two cell separator machines were functional in the hospital and two more machines were needed to facilitate dengue patients. He said that Rs 30 million were required for upgrading the Virology Lab and Rs 10 million for research activities.
The prime minister listened to the problems sympathetically and assured the hospital administration of meeting their demands very soon. He said the federal government was following a comprehensive plan of action to fight dengue fever and providing necessary treatment to all patients.
The prime minister said platelet kits were also being provided to patients and the federal government had made arrangements for smooth supply of the kits to the patients so that they did not face any difficulty.
He said the government was providing maximum facilities to dengue patients by using all available resources.
