PPP MNAs from Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa meet PM
ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday called upon the PPP MNAs from Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa to focus on the organization of the party at the district level, matching up to the dynamics of the forthcoming general elections.The Prime Minister was talking to a delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNAs from Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, who called on him here at the Prime Minister House.The MNAs who called on the Prime Minister included Mahboobullah Jan, Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir, Fawad Alam, Mrs. Farhat Khan, Tariq Khattak, Milk Azmat, Lal Khan, Noor Alam Khan and Mrs. Asma Arbab Alamgir.
The Prime Minister said that he would be visiting the province next week during which he would also meet the provincial PPP leadership to discuss the Party matters with them.
The MNAs appreciated the rectification of the electoral rolls by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Prime Minister said that its completion in April 2012 would help in holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country and with that the dream of undiluted democracy in the country will come true.
The Prime Minister said that the credit goes to the party for making the Election Commission of Palistan as an independent Commission in the true sense of the word.
The Prime Minister urged upon the MNAs to complete the development projects in the respective constituencies, which were already in hand and meant to improve the quality of life of the people. These projects included gas, electricity, water supply schemes, roads, fly-overs and link roads.
The long-term projects will be taken by the federal or respective provincial governments.
The Prime Minister also said that he had the mechanism of monitoring development schemes and would give more funds to those MNAs who would complete the projects on time or before deadline.
The Prime Minister gave the instructions to release necessary funds for undertaking the Lift-Chair project in the District of Kohistan on the recommendation of Lal Khan, MNA who said that the completion of the project within three months will provide opportunity to the locals and the visitors of seeing one of the best scenic beauty sites.
The MNAs appreciated the stance of the government with regard to the US adding that leveling unsubstantiated allegation against an ally, is regrettable by any stretch of imagination.
The US should appreciate the role and sacrifices of Pakistan in the war against terror as the nation has lost precious lives to the extent of 35,000, they added.
The MNAs lauded the decision of the Prime Minister to visit Afghanistan to condole the death of Prof Burhanuddin Rabbani that would surely help scuttle the designs of those elements that are against reconciliation process in the country.
They also appreciated the Prime Minister’s decision to call off his visit to New York to address the General Assembly session due to flood devastation in the province of Sindh, which had dislocated more than seven million people and washed away thousands of acres of standing crops.
