PM responds to CM Punjab on fertilizer issue, says 700,000 tons of urea to be imported by December
ISLAMABAD, Nov 6 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that Economic Coordination Committee has approved 700,000 tons of urea import and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan has issued tenders in this regard.The Prime Minister stated this in his letter to Chief Minister Punjab, who had written to him regarding supply of fertilizer.The Prime Minister said that facts described in the letter earlier sent by the Chief Minister to him were baseless.He said the shipment of the urea would be completed by end of December 2011.Gilani said fertilizer factories in Punjab have been divided into two groups to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas under Gas Load Management Programme.
The Prime Minister reminded the Chief Minister that it is the responsibility of provincial governments to check hoarding, black marketing and adulteration in fertilizers.
