Karwan-i-Tameer journey to unveil development projects: PM
ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said he had embarked upon the ‘Karwan-i-Tameer’ from Karachi to Khyber to inaugurate the unprecedented development projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the people. He was talking to parliamentarians, who called on him at the PM House here.Senator Syeda Sughra Imam apprised the Prime Minister about the development projects in her constituency.
Dr Farooq Sattar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) apprised the Prime Minister about development projects being undertaken in Karachi.
The Prime Minister directed that the preparatory work on Circular Railway Project be expedited in view of its importance for the people of metropolis.
Dr Sattar also discussed with the Prime Minister another project ‘Liyari Expressway”. The Prime Minister directed that the project be completed as its major portion had already been completed.
In a meeting with Noor Alam Khan, MNA, the Prime Minister expressed the pleasure that the project of natural gas costing Rs 1.20 billion in Peshawar was progressing well.
The Prime Minister said he would meet the elected representatives and party leaders during his visit to Peshawar on November 19.
The Prime Minister said he was happy to address the Supreme Court Bar Association during his last visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which was indeed the first address by any Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Syed Akhondzada Chittan, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, thanked the Prime Minister for fulfilling the commitment of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto by amending FCR (Frontier Crimes Regulations).
The Prime Minister said he would like to visit Bajour and inaugurate the projects by himself.
He announced Information Technology Campus in the area and also IT Labs in five union councils of the Agency.
Senator Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi met the Prime Minister and thanked him for providing funds for undertaking schemes for electrification and provision of gas, including rehabilitation of the flood-affected areas.
The Prime Minister said that Shahdad Kot Road be completed on priority basis as it would connect the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.
Senator Faisal Raza Abidi also called on the Prime Minister and congratulated him for embarking on ‘Karwan-i-Taamir’ aimed at apprising the people about the unprecedented development works completed by the present democratic government.
Afzal Sandhu, an MNA of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) , discussed with the Prime Minister matters pertaining to the party and the political situation in the country. He also thanked the Prime Minister for provision of fund for sui gas in his constituency.
