PM directs Finance Division to release funds for Lowari Tunnel
ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani on Friday informed the National Assembly that Finance Division had been directed to release one billion rupees fund to National Highway Authority (NHA) to resume work on Lowari Tunnel project.Speaking on the floor of the House, the Prime Minister said Lowari Tunnel was an extremely important project and a trade and strategic route not only for Chitral but beyond that. The Prime Minisiter said  that he had also chaired a meeting on Lowari Tunnel project in Lahore and directed Secretary Finance, chairman NHA and relevant stakeholders to release shortfall of funds to NHA.The Prime Minister said Lowari tunnel project was among the five mega projects to which the government was giving top priority.

He said the present government during the last three years had carried out various development schemes of Rs 1.3 trillion across the country and its details would be provided to the National Assembly.
