Gilani directs NADRA to go ahead with smart cards for Pensioners 

      
ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday directed the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide smart cards for the Pensioners to ease their sufferings. The decision is likely to bring a sigh of relief to the millions of pensioners of the country who have to stand in endless lines outside banks every month to receive their pension.
The death of an elderly pensioner who breathed his last recently while waiting for hours outside a bank at Lahore seemed to have finally moved the authorities to take corrective measures.
The State Bank last year in line with the directive of a suo moto notice by the Supreme Court directed banks to facilitate senior citizens and to disburse it through all branches of all licensed banks, similar to the procedure adopted for payment of salaries.
