No one to be allowed cast evil eye on Pakistan’s security,sovereignty: PM
MULTAN, Nov 26 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said no one would be allowed to cast an evil eye on Pakistan’s security and sovereignty and the government would defend its security at all costs. Addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stone of different development projects for the area here, the Prime Minister while referring to the NATO helicopters attack in Mohmand Agency said, “Pakistani’s solidarity and security have been attacked this morning.” He said due to this incident, he is going back to Islamabad this evening to discuss the issue with members of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet and other political leaders. He said he had also talked to Leader of Opposition in National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Imran Khan and other leaders so that unity could be forged in the nation to tackle this issue.
The Prime Minister said with the support of the people, the government was able to solve their problems and added that inferiority complex among the people of South Punjab would also be removed.
He said the Pakistan Peolple’s Party (PPP) has the vision, programme and manifesto to improve the living standard of the people and was taking practical steps in this regard.
The Prime Minister said the South Punjab had been ignored development in the past and now by the grace of God, the government has initiated a number of projects for the under-developed areas of this region.
He said the government was paying more attention to neglected areas. He said development projects costing billions of rupees were going on for the overall development of South Punjab.
The Prime Minister said during less than four years of the government, many projects were initiated despite global recession, floods, shortage of power and expenditures on war against militancy.
He said the government has been working on all these four fronts with unity and taking all the stakeholders in confidence.
The Prime Minister said the communication system along with building of new roads and bridges would help improve life-style of the people of the area resulting in improvement of the economic condition of the people.
The Prime Minister specially referred to the projects of bypass and old Shujabad Road added that these would pave way to progress and prosperity in the region.
“We are in power due to the support of the masses and due to ideology of the party,” he said.
Gilani said many villages have been linked with the cities with new roads, infrastructure has been improved and electricity has also been provided by the government which are unprecedented steps.
He said that after the completion of the five years term, all the development projects would be completed.
Referring the project of Nishtar Ghaat Bridge in South Punjab, the Prime Minister said Rs 1.5 billion has been allocated for the project and work on it will be started very soon.
He said this project will connect the three provinces, and it will reduce the distance between Peshawar and Karachi by 100 km.
The Prime Minister said work on Mohammad Wala Bridge, will also be started very soon.
He said the new projects stared today would be completed in March next.
He said the overhead bridges would bring revolution to whole of the Punjab and they are not just for his constituency.
The said with new runway, the Multan Airport has become an international airport.
