PM asks PPP’s workers to spread party’s core message among people
ISLAMABAD, Nov 30 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has asked the workers of Pakistan People’s Party to spread party’s core message among the people.  He said that Pakistan People’s Party is a federal party and has strong roots among the masses in all the four provinces including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, he said in a message on the occasion of PPP’s 45th founding day (Nov.30) This federalist character gives the party a unique position to  represent the aspirations of people of the entire country and unify the nation, he stated.
The Prime Minister paid glowing tributes to the workers and leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party for their relentless struggle and matchless sacrifices they have rendered for the cause of democracy and democratic rule.
The Prime Minister said that ‘Bhuttoism’ was a philosophy of  empowerment of the downtrodden and the under-privileged sections of the society.
He said that  by founding PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave a message that the
masses were the real stakeholders in the system and they needed to be made master of their destiny.
Bhuttoism remains as relevant today as it was about 43 years ago and  it gave people hope in the face of the heavy odds by enabling them to brave the worst storms of dictatorship and tyrannical rule with resilience and optimism.
Socio-economic justice, equality of opportunities, empowerment, and rule  of law are the core ingredients of the philosophy espoused by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto,” he said.
The Prime Minister paid homage to the leadership of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto for their sacrifices in the struggle for restoration of democracy and people’s rights. He said that the history would remember the Bhutto family as the torch bearer of human rights, democracy, empowerment and emancipation of masses and representative rule. He said that through their sweat and blood for the cause of people, they chronicled a glorious chapter of courage and selflessness to the human history.
The Prime Minister said that the masses especially the younger generation needed to be educated about why PPP was established and what it achieved during last forty plus years. “It is responsibility of the PPP leaders and workers to undertake this responsibility,” he added.
The Prime Minister said that government of PPP led by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave a unanimous Constitution of 1973, which has, ever since, protected the federation by holding all federating units together. He recalled that it was during the stint of Pakistan’s first elected Prime Minister that the country’s nuclear programme was launched, which has made the national defence impregnable.
The Prime Minister said that in line with the PPP’s manifesto and the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto, the present democratic government has introduced some historic reforms in political, economic and legislative domains.
Restoration of original character of the Constitution, devolution of  power to the federating units, seventh National Finance Commission Award, Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Act, Reforms in FCR and Extension of Political Parties Act in FATA, successful fight against terrorism, Benazir Income Support Programme, Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Initiative, empowerment of women and the mainstreaming of the minorities are  some of the steps taken by the present government, which have potential of changing the destiny of this nation, the Prime Minister added.
The Prime Minister said that though the government did not have a parliamentary majority in the National Assembly, yet it was able to achieve these successes. The reason for these outstanding achievements, he said, was the policy of reconciliation and dialogue advocated by Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto. He said that record development works took place in the country during last four years. “We accomplished what a government having two/third majority failed to do,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister said that on the occasion of PPP’s founding day, the party workers should remember those in their prayers who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy.
