Gilani says he respects court decision,to appear before SC

ISLAMABAD, Feb 2 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said his government respects the judiciary and its decisions and he will appear before the Apex Court. “Whatever decision comes from the Supreme Court, we would respect it.I appeared before the court when summoned and shall go again in respect of the judiciary,” he said in National Assembly. Responding to a point of order raised by Leader of the Opposition Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, the Prime Minister said, if all the institutions work under the Constitution nobody will criticize them.
 

He said all the institutions are answerable to the Parliament and whatever decision the Parliament would take about the issue of killing of four persons in custody, the government will be ready to abide by.
The Prime Minister, however, said since the matter is subjudice, therefore constituting any committee on the issue should be avoided.
About the issue of oil prices, the Prime Minister said that a Parliamentary Committee should be formed to discuss the issue with the Finance Minister.
The government he said, would take all possible measures to resolve the issue in light of the outcome of committee’s meeting with the Finance Minister.
About tabling of 20th Amendment Bill in the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said, he was briefed by Syed Khursheed Shah and Raza Rabbani about it, adding that the government did not want to weaken the institutions rather to strengthen them and protect the Constitution. He said the government had taken unprecedented steps for the protection and supremacy of the Constitution.
 The Prime Minister welcomed suggestions of leader of the opposition to strengthening the Constitution and added that everyone should follow the Constitution.
