PM to reappear before Supreme Court: Firdous

ISLAMABAD, Feb 2 (APP): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Thursday that the government respects judiciary and will implement the decisions of Supreme Court. She said this while talking to media persons after inaugurating the Islamic Cultural Art exhibition held in connection with the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) at Pakistan National Council of the Arts. She said, “Earlier Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani appeared before the honorable Supreme Court and will appear again on the order of the apex court on February 13.” Leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) respects the judiciary and will appear in the Supreme Court and people’s court, she said and expressed the confidenes that the “PPP will get justice.”
 Dr Firdous said the PPP believes in the rule of law and will do whatever is important for the dignity of court.
 To a question she said Pakistan and Iran are enjoying deep-rooted brotherly relations.
“Pakistan and Iran are enjoying common religious cultural relations and with the passage of time these relations will further enhance.”
The minister said both the brotherly countries have commonality of views on all regional and global issues.
 She said that the challenges confronting the Ummah can be resolved through forging unity among the Muslim countries.
Dr Firdous said with the efforts of both the countries, misperceptions in the western countries about Islam would dispel. “The relations are not only between the two countries but among the people of Pakistan and Iran.”
 The minister said Pakistan considers Iran as a true and trustworthy friend who always stood with Pakistan in difficult times.
 She stressed the need for evolving a joint strategy by Pakistan and Iran to fight the menace of terrorism in a more effective manner.
 Both the countries are jointly making documentary on the national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, she said adding that the documentary, which would be released in Pakistan and Iran simultaneously, is being made in Urdu and Persian languages.
 The documentary will help the people of both the countries to understand the philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, she added.
 The minister said Pakistan and Iran are also jointly planning to produce a documentary highlighting the struggle of Muslim heroes.
 To a question, she said a flight daily operates between Pakistan and Iran.
 Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said she is planning to visit Iran with the aim to strengthen existing bilateral relations in the field of media.
She said the PNCA will play an active role in promoting Iranian culture in Pakistan by holding different programmes.
 Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Alireza Haghighian said today (February 2) is the day when a revolution came in Iran. “Today is the 33th anniversary of Iranian Revolution and it is still continuing to serve the people”, he said.
 “Iran and Pakistan, both are Muslim countries and have common culture,” he said, adding that efforts are being made to operate another flight from Islamabad to Tehran on daily basis.
 The minister along with the Iranian Ambassador also took a round of the exhibition and showed keen interest in different paintings.
