Parliament to endorse RGST bill: PM       
LAHORE,Nov 27 (APP)-Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said the National Assembly,like Senate, would also adopt the Reformed General Sales Tax(RGST) Bill and asserted parliament was his strength.“ The opposition has every right to criticise and the government will entertain diverse opinions on the RGST with positive intent,” he said, while talking to the mediamen at the inauguration of country’s first ever Liver Transplant Centre at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital here.Regarding comments by the leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Ch.Nisar Ali Khan on RGST, Gilani said,”We have great respect for the leader of the Opposition,but if we expect the world to help us with the money of their taxpayers, the world also expects us to pay taxes and generate revenue for the rehabilitation of our people.”
About the allocation of health budget, Gilani said that health and education sectors were the top priority of the PPP government and ministry of health was among the first ten ministries which would be devolved under the 18th constitutional amendment.
The Prime Minister said that the government was in the process of  re-prioritising the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) in the aftermath of  recent unprecedented floods in the country, adding that maximum resources would be awarded to the provinces under the NFC Award.
To a question regarding Shahbaz Sharif’s meeting with the Army chief Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani, he said there was nothing to worry about it, saying that security situation and the war on terror prompted the meetings between the two.
The Premier said that the armed forces had the support of the masses on the issue of war against terror and no battle could be won without peoples’ support.
“Pakistani Military is pro-democracy as well as loyal to the country and we have complete confidence in our armed forces”, Gilani said.
When asked about the conviction of Aasia Bibi and rumours of repeal of Blasphemy Act and the strong opposition by the religious parties, the Prime Minister said, “It was a non- issue and would be resolved soon”.
To a question about improving relations with the opposition, Gilani said that diversity of opinion was the soul of democracy.He highlighted that it was unprecedented in the democratic history of the country that politics of reconciliation and a political culture of no political victimisation was introduced by a political party (PPP).There were no political prisoners in the jails, he added.
The Prime Minister said the commissioning of the country’s first ever liver transplant centre would save huge foreign exchange.Gilani said that he had also ordered the establishment of a liver transplant centre at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in the federal capital which would be operatioanl within six months.
He said that the government was committed to providing healthcare to the masses and billions of rupees had already been allocated for health services.
Gilani said that hepatitus was a big menace and it could only be defeated through vaccine.
The premier called upon doctors to devote themselves wholeheartedly to the service of suffering masses in the face of the menacing liver disease.
Appreciating Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for allocating 600 kanals of land for the Benazir Bhutto Campus of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Dental College in the provincial metropolis, he announced a grant of Rs 180 million for the Benazir Bhutto campus of the dental college.
The Prime Minister also announced a grant of Rs 100 million for operational expenses of patient care at the Liver Transplant Centre.
Urging the nation to come forward for organ and tissue donations, Gilani appealed to the affluent of the country to contribute magnanimously to the cause of the masses suffering from liver diseases in the country.
Earlier, the Premier inaugurated the 16-bed Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Centre at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital. The Prime Minister was also shown round the transplant ward.
Punjab Governor Salamn Taseer, Federal Health Minister Makhdoom Shahabud Din and Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Nawabzada Ghazanfar Gull were also peresent on the occasion.
