PM Gilani visits Pakistan’s new embassy complex in Kabul       
KABUL Dec 5 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday said the new building of Pakistan Embassy in Kabul would be an elegant symbol of the abiding ties of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Afghanistan.“The renovated building should not just be only a structure.  It should reflect the warmth and closeness of our relationship”, Gilani said while speaking at the launching ceremony of the reconstruction and renovation work of the Embassy of Pakistan, Kabul, here at Karte Parwan.The Prime Minister said the new Embassy complex should be practical and accessible to facilitate our common endeavours for peace, stability and mutually beneficial development. “We are proud to rebuild our Embassy at Karte Parwan”, he added.
The Prime Minister said he has instructed Ambassador Sadiq to make all efforts to complete the work on the Embassy complex as soon as possible, adding, the first building was expected to be completed, Inshallah, by next year.
“We would like to complete this diplomatic compound by adding the new Chancery building, residences for our diplomats and staff along with required amenities”, Gilani added.
The Prime Minister said he was particularly happy to conclude the visit to Kabul with the commencement of the renovation work of the Pakistani Embassy.
Gilani thanked Afghan Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul and other senior Afghan leaders and Pakistani community members for their presence in the ceremony.
“Your presence here demonstrates the special brotherly bonds of friendship that exist between our two peoples. We look forward to your continued support as well as your prayers in the completion of this project”, he remarked.
The Prime Minister visited various portions of the embassy, which is spread over 200 acres and is undergoing a phase of renovation and reconstruction.
The Prime Minister inquired about the ongoing work and expressed satisfaction about the project.
After completion of renovation work, the embassy premises will be one of the largest in Kabul.
The land of embassy originally possessed by Britain came into ownership of Pakistan at the time of sharing of assets between India and Pakistan in 1947.
