KABUL, Dec 5 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday said the common threat of terrorism could be tackled through enhanced economic ties and increased trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.The Prime Minister was talking to the Speaker of Afghan Lower House of Parliament, Mohammad Younas Qanooni during a meeting here at the Presidential Palace.He said the improvement of economic relations could lead development as well as change in the lives of people, forming a basis to prepare a common strategy to confront the trends of extremism and militancy. The high level contacts, the Prime Minister said, have proved very useful in developing better understanding between the two countries. The interactions, he said, have also helped to create realization that as neighbours both countries have stand united to confront the challenges. The Afghan Speaker said it was heartening that Prime Minister Gilani has visited Kabul at such a critical time when both countries need each other more than ever. Younas Qanooni said terrorism was a threat to their societies, but he was confident that leaders of both the countries would overcome this threat. |
