Speaker Turkish assembly calls on PM Gilani       
ANKARA, Turkey, Dec 7 (APP): Speaker of Turkish Grand National Assembly Mehmet Ali Shaheen Tuesday called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and discussed with him matters relating to parliament and democracy.The Speaker apprised the Prime Minister of the transitional role Turkey played in attaining an exemplary model of democracy.The Prime Minister said Pakistan was enjoying complete democracy with all institutions working independently and smoothly.He said his government was continuing the policy of ensuring harmony among political groups in the country by following the policy of reconciliation.
Gilani called for increased interaction among the parliamentarians of the two countries for better understanding and deeper relationship between the two countries.
The Speaker appreciated Pakistan’s effort for democracy through the sacrifices of its leaders.
The Prime Minister said Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza is the head of Pakistan-Turkey Friendship Association, which is a gesture of our brotherly relations.
Gilani congratulated the Turkish Speaker on successful referendum of constitutional reforms in his country.
Speaker Mehmet Shaheen said the peace and stability of Pakistan was most important for peace and prosperity of the world at large.
He said Turkish people will never forget the support of Muslims of Pakistan in Turkey’s war of independence. He said Turkish people feel strongly about their Pakistani brethren and expressed grief over the miseries caused by the recent floods.
