Gilani reiterates commitment for early reconstruction of damaged infrastructure 

      
ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani reiterated the commitment of his government to leave no stone unturned for early reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and rehabilitation of the flood affectees. The Prime Minister expressed these views during his meeting with Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior, who called on him at Prime Minister House on Thursday afternoon.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan is facing the biggest crisis of its history.
The unprecedented devastating floods have destroyed not only precious lives but also damaged the infrastructure. Large number of houses, roads, schools, health units and bridges have been washed out, he added.
He further said the floods have also damaged the agricultural economy of the country.
Despite massive scale of devastation, the Prime Minister stated the government was taking all possible measures for the rehabilitation of the displaced persons.
The Prime Minister told Senator Talha about his visit to NADRA Headquarters during the day and expressed satisfaction on the pace of distribution of cash compensation to the affected families in various flood ravaged areas.
Senator Talha apprised the Prime Minister about the relief and rehabilitation activities in his constituency.
He disclosed to the Prime Minister that he was carrying out reconstruction of the damaged houses from his personal resources in addition to the disbursement of cash grant by the government.
He also discussed with him various development projects of his constituency.
