PM grieved over Holbrooke’s death
ISLAMABAD, Dec 14 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow and shock over the demise of Ambassador Holbrooke, US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan. In his message of condolence to the bereaved family, the Prime Minister said the news was received “with deep sense of grief”. Gilani said Ambassador Holbrooke passionately worked to establish strategic partnership between Pakistan and the United States.
“He always attached utmost importance, he added, to strengthening of Pakistan-US relations and left no corners unturned to broaden and deepen this partnership,” he said.
The Prime Minister said, “We will always remember his contributions towards Pakistan-US bilateral ties as well as his efforts for promoting peace and stability in our region, with a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude.”
He said, “We fully share your grief and sorrow over the untimely sad demise of your esteemed husband and pray that God, the Almighty may give you and other family members the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and rest the departed soul in eternal peace, in Heaven.”
