Govt committed to provide equal opportunities to women: Gilani       
ISLAMABAD, Dec 24 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday said the government is committed to provide equal opportunities to the women folk in all walks of life.A number of measures have been taken for the social and economic empowerment of women in the society, he said talking to a group of women parliamentarians, who called on him at his Parliament House Chamber.He said the government intends to further improve women status in the society though effective legislative measures as well to create congenial environment to enable them for active participation in the national development.The Prime Minister reiterated that women and minorities are his constituency.
He said the government has already enhanced women quota in the public sector jobs and has also launched schemes to provide soft loans to the women for self employment ventures.
The MNAs briefed the Prime Minister about their interaction with various social groups of women.
They also appraised him about the progress of various development schemes initiated by the government for the empowerment of the women.
The MNAs included Chairperson BISP Ms. Farzana Raja, Ms.Sherry Rehman, Ms. Rukhsana Bangash, Ms. Farah Naz Isfahani and Ms. Fauzia Behram.
