PPP to pursue Bhutto’s ideology: PM
ISLAMABAD, Jan 5 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Tuesday that the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would remain steadfast pursuing the ideology of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for the country’s development and prosperity.“The best way to pay homage to Shaheed Bhutto is to safeguard his political and ideological heritage, and the government is striving to make the country a prosperous welfare state,” the Prime Minister said in his message to the nation on the 83rd birth anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
The Prime Minister said that the great leader freed the common man from the darkness of feudal minds, economic disparity and disappointment, and instead inculcated in them thoughtfulness.
Gilani said Shaheed Bhutto stood against the dictatorship and spent his life for the welfare of people and the country’s prosperity besides playing a role in uniting the third world to fight for their rights and invoking a spirit of brotherhood among the Muslim Ummah.
The Prime Minister mentioned the contribution of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in shape of economic and agricultural reforms, the programmes on education, health, culture and social welfare, the 1973 Constitution and network of industry, including Steels Mills.
He said that the state enemies got involved into conspiracies against Shaheed Bhutto knowing that he was firm to make Pakistan a democratic welfare state in a true sense. However, he said, the great leader did not accept to bow down before the military dictator.
Gilani said there was a huge following of the views of Shaheed Bhutto internationally that focused on resolving the problems of common man.
