PM stresses aggressive campaign against polio
ISLAMABAD, Jan 14 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday stressed upon the provincial governments to aggressively participate in the Polio Eradication Campaign to wipe it out from the country.He directed the provincial governments to put the Polio eradication on top of their agenda and allocate sufficient resources for this purpose.The Prime Minister while talking to the Governor Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, Owais Ahmed Ghani, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa Amir Haider Hoti, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah, Prime Minister AJ&K Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan and Zulfiqar Ali Khosa, Senior Advisor to Chief Minister of Punjab, who called on him at Prime Minister Secretariat stressed upon the need of zero tolerance during polio campaign in the country.
Expressing his concerns over the recently reported increase in polio cases, he said there is an urgent need to rethink collective response and modify polio campaigns to completely wipe out the polio virus from the country.
The Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa apprised the Prime Minister about the measures to reach the far flung areas particularly those which were earlier inaccessible due to militants’ resistance.
The Chief Minister Sindh informed the Prime Minister during the call on about rehabilitation work in the province for flood affected people. He also apprised the Prime Minister about the measures taken to make Polio Eradication Campaign a success in Sindh Province.
