End of terrorism to improve economy, bring foreign investment: Gilani
MUZAFFARGARH, Jan 17 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday stressed that terrorism and extremism needed to be eradicated to improve law and order , boost economy and bring foreign investment.Addressing a public meeting at the inauguration of Muzaffargarh bypass road here, he said, “terrorism has to be eradicated to create an atmosphere in which everybody can make investment without any fear.” He said terrorism and extremism are serious problems of the present time.The Prime Minister praised the people of Muzaffargarh for bravely facing the calamity of floods and said such display of strength could not be seen anywhere else in the world.
He said the government did not have adequate resources and the world was concerned as to how the 20 million homeless people would go back to their flood struck homes and what would be their future.
He said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had great affection for the people of Muzaffargarh and she asked him to take care of them.
Gilani said that the Head Muhammadwala Project of Rs. three billion, which was launched to fulfill wish of Benazir Bhutto, would be completed soon.
He said the government despite financial problems continued work on projects proposed by public representatives in the flood hit areas.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan People’s Party is a symbol of the Federation and it has roots in all four provinces, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said PPP restored to its original form the constitution of 1973, which was the achievement of Zulfikar Bhutto Shaheed and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed .
“We are strengthening the state institutions created under the 1973 constitution to fulfill the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto ,” he said adding PPP government knows how to meet the challenges and it would continue to do it in future.
The Prime Minister said he was a descendant of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), therefore, there was nobody better than him to protect Namoos-e-Risalat.
He said no change would be made in the blasphemy law and urged the religious scholars to hold talks with the government to rid the country of the threat posed by terrorism.
He said people of Muzaffargarh had reposed their confidence in PPP during elections as all the five seats of National Assembly were won by it.
The Prime Minister accepted the demand of Minister of State for Finance Hina Rabbani Khar for bricklining of Muzaffargarh canal and reconstruction of Dera Ghazi Khan Multan Road.
He also approved the reconstruction of embankments to protect area of Muzaffargarh from floods.
