Political parties play due role to strengthen democracy: PM
ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said that all the political parties have played their due role to strengthen democracy in the country.Referring to the reconciliatory policy of Pakistan People’s Party, he said that for the first time in political history of Pakistan, coalition governments have been formed at the federal as well as provincial level.This arrangement has not only introduced a new political culture requiring tolerance but has also helped to evolve consensus on national issues.The Prime Minister was talking to Parliamentarians who called on him separately at his Parliament chamber.
The Prime Minister observed that Parliament is the right forum, where all national issues should be debated according to national interest.
He urged all the Parliamentarians to personally monitor the development projects for rehabilitation of the flood-affected people. The Government, he added, had expressed its resolve to utilize all available resources to mitigate sufferings of the people. He hoped that the elected representatives would work with commitment in this regard.
The Parliamentarians apprised the Prime Minister of various development schemes in their respective constituencies. Syed Khursheed Shah, Minister for Religious Affairs,Syed Sumsam Ali Bokhari,Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, MNAs Sahibzada Syed Murtaza Amin, Rana Afzal Hussain, Jamshaid Dasti, Ramesh Lal, Nazir Bughio, Ms.Raheela Baloch,Dr.Zil-e-Huma,Ms.Samina Mushtaq Paganwala and Nawabzada Ghazanfar Gul,Political Advisor to Prime Minister called on the Prime Minister.
