PM for people-focused development agenda
ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Thursday that despite financial difficulties, the government was trying to manage funds for the projects of public utility.He added that the development agenda, which simultaneously benefits the masses and generates healthy economic activities, is the focus of the government’s policies.The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, who called on him at his Parliament House Chamber.
The Prime Minister said the government was making efforts for the development of border tribal areas so as to enhance economic opportunities for the people.
It would help stimulate the people living in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) region to focus their energies on improving their living standards, he added.
The consequent economic prosperity would go a long way in reducing the militant tendencies when the people join the mainstream through economic empowerment.
The NA Deputy Speaker briefed the Prime Minister about the present status of the Dera Ismail Khan Airport to raise it to the level of international airport.
He thanked the Prime Minister for allocating funds for the airport project as it would not only lessen the difficulties of the people of southern part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as North and South Waziristan besides generating economic activities.
He also thanked the Prime Minister for approving of the Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal, which would irrigate vast barren areas and convert them into the food basket for the province.
