PM terms infrastructure uplift vital for prosperity
MULTAN, Jan 29 (APP) Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday night reaffirmed government’s commitment to infrastructure development and termed it vital for progress and prosperity of the country.The Prime Minister made these observations at a three-hour long detailed briefing from officials on PM’s Southern Punjab Development Package at a local circuit house.Infrastructure development helps open up the area for economic activities and thus create employment opportunities, the Prime Minister said.Commissioner Multan division gave briefing to Prime Minister on Southern Punjab Development Package while DCO Khurram Agha apprised the meeting about the Multan city beautification plan.
Senior officials from other departments including NHA,Multan Development Authority, Railways, Wasa, PHE and others were also present and responded to different questions from the Prime Minister on status of different schemes.
Gilani emphasized that the quality of construction work should not be compromised at any cost and instructed all the organizations and departments concerned to improve coordination to ensure timely completion of schemes.
He said that funds for the projects be released at earliest so that people can benefit from infrastructural facilities.
Prime Minister was apprised that infrastructure development will improve connectivity between different areas, reduce traffic problems.
The Prime Minister said that sewerage and water supply schemes should be completed at earliest to benefit the people and added that such schemes were essential for cleanliness, hygienic conditions and help improve the quality of life of the people.
He said that the government wants to develop the backward areas, it was also a priority of the government to rehabilitate and reconstruct the flood hit areas.
The prime minister said that the schemes on which the work has not yet started be prioritized according to the needs of the people and be shifted to next fiscal year.
Incharge Prime Minister’s camp office in Multan MPA Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gilani, other MPAs Ahmad Hussain Dehar, Malik Mohammad Amir Dogar, and Syed Nazim Hussain Shah besides PM’s media coordinator Khawaja Rizwan Alam were also present on the occasion.
