Political stability vital for economic prosperity: Gilani
MULTAN, Jan 30 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that the reconciliation policy was aimed at bringing about political stability in the country, which was essential for economic stability.Talking to a delegation of Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan Chambers of Commerce and Industry at Circuit House here on Sunday, Yusuf Raza Gilani said that the government had met challenges with consensus and achieved successes through reconciliatory politics.
The Prime Minister said that the government had opened doors for dialogue to face economic challenges. “The government is introducing economic reforms which will improve the economy on a permanent basis,” he added.
On loadshedding and power losses, he said that the government was restructuring different sectors to reduce losses and improve the economy.
He informed the delegations that the government was focusing on developing human skills to strengthen trade and industrial sectors.
Earlier, the representatives of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) apprised the Prime Minister of the problems of business community due to shortage of electricity and gas. They also asked for setting up a business promotion centre and an export business centre, which could cater the needs of South Punjab. They also demanded economic incentives, especially for flood-hit southern Punjab.
The prime minister assured the MCCI members that the government would fully cooperate with them.
