Govt has no intention to amend blasphemy law: PM
ISLAMABAD,Jan 31 (APP):Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday categorically made it clear that the government has no intention to amend the blasphemy law.It was the PPP government of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto which introduced this law in Pakistan, he said, adding, therefore any amendment in this law would be against our party line.The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to a group of Parliamentarians, who called on him here at his chamber in the Parliament House on Monday evening.
He reiterated that the government believes in taking all political partners on board while deciding the national issues and pursuing the policy of political reconciliation to solve the problems confronting the nation.
Referring to rehabilitation of flood affectees, the Prime Minister said the government has distributed Smart Cards among the flood affectees within record time.
He said the flood affectees have got Rs. 20,000 per family through the provincial governments, adding, the federal government will disburse the remaining amount of Rs. 80,000 per family to the provinces soon.
The Prime Minister urged the Parliamentarians to focus on the completion of on-going development schemes in their respective constituency. He asked the parliamentarians to monitor reconstruction schemes of the flood ravaged areas.
The Parliamentarians included Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Deputy Chairman Senate Senator Jan Jamali, KPK Provincial Minister for Irrigation Pervaiz Khattak and MNAs Abdul Majeed Khan, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan and Noor Alam Khan.
