Programmes for exploring youth’s potential on cards: PM
ISLAMABAD, Mar 1 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday terming the youth as country’s future said the government has prepared a number of programmes for developing their skills and abilities.The Prime Minister was talking to a group of young students belonging to a private school who will be representing the country at the Model Untied Nations Moot for children being organized by the Government of Turkey from March 7-14 in Istanbul. In a meeting at Prime Minister’s Parliament House Chamber, Gilani urged the youth to equip themselves with education and skills needed to face the future challenges.
He apprised the children about the functioning of Senate and National Assembly, and said that question-hour during sessions as well as Parliamentary Committees of the Parliament are forums of government’s accountability.
He said along with civil society and media, the parliament also keeps a watch over working of the government. All these institutions, he mentioned, help strengthen democracy and functioning of democratic institutions.
The Prime Minister advised the children to display exemplary behaviour while participating in the moot and represent the country as true Pakistanis.
The children assured that they will participate in the moot whole heartedly and win honour for the country. They also expressed hope that the children of the country will be encouraged to participate in such events held in various parts of the world.
They also asked that Pakistan should also try to arrange events to invite children from other countries.
