PM for immediate steps to ensure safe evacuation of Pakistanis from Libya |
ISLAMABAD, Mar 2 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday directed the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take appropriate and immediate steps to ensure safe evacuation of Pakistani nationals from Libya.On the directions of the Prime Minister, the PIA is sending tonight (Wednesday night) an airplane to Turkey to bring back around 300 Pakistanis, who have been evacuated with the help of the Turkish government.
Two other airplanes are ready to be dispatched to Tripoli, Libya and Tunisia in the next two days to evacuate the stranded Pakistani there, a press release issued by the Prime Minister Office here on Wednesday said. A special Desk has been established in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which would work round the clock to coordinate the efforts for the evacuation of Pakistanis coming out of Libya. The Foreign Affairs desk will coordinate with the Ministry of Defence, PIA, Pakistani Embassies in Libya and relevant countries as well as the governments of the countries in and around the region. |
