Shahbaz Bhatti’s murder an attempt of anti-state elements to defame country, destabilize system: PM
ISLAMABAD, Mar 3 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said that the tragic murder of Shahbaz Bhatti, Minister for Minorities Affairs was an act and attempt of anti-state elements to defame the country and destabilize the system. The Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic happening and said that all possible measures would be taken to ensure the safety of minorities as they enjoy constitutional protection.
He said that the platform of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) should also be utilized to create awareness among the common people about the negative agenda of the extremist elements.
The Prime Minister expressed these views in a meeting with Federal Ministers and PPP Office bearers here at the PM House on Thursday afternoon.
He that time has come that all state institutions join hands for the socio-economic development of the country.
In this context greater responsibility rests upon the members of the new Cabinet to ensure good governance in their respective ministries by increasing the level of coordination among all their line departments, he added.
The Prime Minister urged the need for closer collaboration among all the ministries for achieving the desired ends. He also called for improvement in the feedback system to ensure speedy implementation of various projects which are already in progress.
The Prime Minister said that government’s finance team has been working relentlessly to prepare a comprehensive economic plan to overcome the national economic challenges resulting in improvement of economy, adding, the benefits of government’s economic reforms would soon start reaching the people.
The Ministers briefed the Prime Minister about various initiatives being pursued by their respective Ministries.
The Ministers included Mian Raza Rabbani, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Dr. Zaheeruddin Babar Awan, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Privatization, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Minister for Religious Affairs.
The PPP Office bearers included Qamar Zaman Kaira, Secretary Information PPP and Nazar Muhammad Gondal.
