PM House refutes Nisar’s claim of not receiving President’s letter
ISLAMABAD, Mar 14 (APP): The Prime Minister House on Monday refuted the claim of Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, that he had not received any letter from the President regarding appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).As a proof the PM House also released a scanned copy of the letter that was delivered by special messenger at the residence of Ch Nisar Ali Khan on March 11 at 11.40 p.m.President Asif Ali Zardari through his letter had sought the opinion of Ch. Nisar Ali Khan for the appointment of Justice (Retd) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah as Chairman, National Accountability Bureau, as part of the consultative process mandatory for such appointment.
However, Ch Nisar at a press conference here at the Punjab House on Sunday claimed not receiving any such letter from the President “so far” and said everyone including the media, was talking about the letter.
“I was in Lahore when I was informed that I would get a letter from the President ... but it is yet to be delivered to me,” he claimed.
A statement issued from the Press Wing of the PM Secretariat stated that “the special messenger requested the guard Mr Muhammad Ijaz to deliver the letter to Ch Nisar Ali Khan instantly because of its immense importance and urgency.”
The guard informed the Special Messenger that “the Opposition Leader is in Lahore - at that time - and he will be apprised of this letter without any waste of time,” the statement said.
The guard signed the receipt No. 20(201)/Dir(A-II)/2011 dated 11th March, 2011 at 11.40 p.m.
President Asif Ali Zarari in his letter proposed appointment Justice (Retd) Deedar Hussain as Chairman, NAB and also sought opinion of the Prime Minister, through a separate letter.
Ch. Nisar in his press conference said he would respond to the letter once he receives it, he stated in the press conference.
