Gilani, Bhutanese PM discuss bilateral ties, regional situation
ISLAMABAD, Mar 19 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and his Bhutanese counterpart Lyonchhen Jigma Y. Thinley met here on Saturday and discussed bilateral ties and regional situation.In a one-on-one meeting held at the PM House, the two prime minsters discussed ways to strengthen relationship between Pakistan and Bhutan in all spheres.The meeting that lasted for 45 minutes focused on increasing contacts between the two countries, both at the governmental and public level. It was agreed that the communication, trade and cultural links can play an important role in boosting up the ties.
The two sides discussed regional situation and the function of SAARC countries in resolving the state issues. Pakistan’s importance in the region with respect to its contribution for maintaining regional peace also came under discussion.
The meeting was followed by a formal round of talks which was assisted by Pakistan’s cabinet members and Bhutan’s delegation. The Ministers who were part of the talks included Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan and Minister for Communication Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan.
