PM Gilani arrives India to witness Pak-India semi-final
CHANDIGARH, Mar 30 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani arrived here on Wednesday on a day-long visit to India to witness the Pakistan-India ICC World Cup semi-final and to hold a dinner meeting with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh.Prime Minister Gilani, who came here in response to Prime Minister Singh’s “positive gesture” of inviting the Pakistani leadership to join him in watching the Pakistan-India cricket match in Mohali, was received at the Chandigarh airport by Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology, Sachin Pilot and Pakistan High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will receive Prime Minister Gilani in Mohali, where the two leaders will meet and watch the match together. The Indian Prime Minister will also host a dinner meeting in honour of Prime Minister Gilani.
“Prime Minister Gilani’s presence in Mohali signifies the tremendous enthusiasm of the people of Pakistan for cricket. It also coincides with the resumption of the Pakistan-India dialogue process,” a foreign office statement in Islamabad on Tuesday said.
“The two Prime Ministers are expected to have a conversation on all issues of mutual interest on the sidelines of the cricket match,” the statement added.
