Rs 2.5 bln released for embankments’ repairing: PM
SUKKUR, April 3 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday that the Federal Government had released  Rs 2.5 billion for repairing and strengthening of river embankments in Sindh. The Prime Minister was addressing a briefing at Sukkur Airport on Sunday regarding the rehabilitation of the bunds and embankments affected by the massive floods last year. 
Sindh Minister for Irrigation Jam Saifullah Dharejo briefed the Prime  Minister. Federal ministers Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Rehman Malik, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah and Mian Raza Rabbani, and Pakistan Peoples Party  leaders Aftab Shahban Mirani, Ejaz Jakhrani and Noman Islam Shaikh were also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister said that Rs 2.5 billion more would be allocated for various mega projects in Sindh, which also included the Ghotki-Kandkot Bridge.
He said that Sindh was the province of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and its all problems would be resolved.
He appreciated the role of the Government of Sindh in tackling the challenge of flood.
The Prime Minister said that the representatives of Federal and Sindh governments should sit togather to first determine the priorities for carrying forward the work of strengthening the bunds and embankments so that better results could be obtained.
He said that concerted efforts should be made and that the targets should be achieved by undertaking work systematically.
He isssued a directive for strengthening of Sukkur’s ‘Katcha Bandarwal’  on the bank of River Indus immediately and shifting of people dwelling there to safer places.
