Devolution process to provide basic amenities to people at their doorstep: PM
ISLAMABAD, April 14 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Thursday that the government had restored the 1973 Constitution in its original form and the unanimous passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment had paved the way for the provincial autonomy. The devolution of 18 ministries and transfer of resources to the provinces will provide basic amenities of life to the common man at their doorstep, the Prime Minister said while talking to members of National Assembly (MNAs), who called on him separately at his chamber in the Parliament House.
The Prime Minister asked all the parliamentarians to personally monitor the development schemes in their respective constituencies. He also asked them to prioritize those schemes which were close to completion.
He stated that he would visit all parts of the country in the near future to personally monitor the pace of development.
Ms.Nafeesa Shah, MNA, discussed the devolution of National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) under 18th Amendment. She requested the Prime Minister that the NCHD board may be completed to ensure smooth devolution of the commission.
She also requested the Prime Minister for increase in the annual grant for the Girls Guide programme.
Mir Aamir Ali Magsi, MNA, discussed law and order situation of Balochistan. He said that common men had been affected due to miscreants’ activities in the province. He complained that the miscreants and saboteurs were being supported by certain international forces.
The MNA observed that these miscreants had destroyed the whole educational infrastructure especially in the rural areas. Magsi also discussed repair of Pat Feeder Canal and remodeling of the Begari Canal scheme which would benefit around 8,000 people. The MNA said that anti-state elements were taking advantage of wide-spread unemployment in the province.
Humayyun Gohar apprised the Prime Minister of progress of development schemes launched in his area. He also discussed the law and order situation in the tribal areas.
Sher M.Baloch, MNA, commended the Prime Minister’s address in the National Assembly on Wednesday. He discussed Benazir Medical Complex project and apprised him that the land had been acquired for the the project in Malir, Karachi.
He also requested the Prime Minister to include establishment of a medical college in the scheme as there was ample space in Benazir Medical Complex to accommodate the college project.
Saeed Ahmad Zafar during his call on requested the Prime Minister to visit his constituency to inaugurate Syedwala bridge on the River Ravi.
