Gilani favours Afghan efforts to reintegrate local groups for political set-up
KABUL, April 16 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Saturday that Afghanistan’s reconciliation and reintegration efforts with its local factions and groups would lead to the emergence of a sustainable political set-up. Talking to Chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani, the Prime Minister said Pakistan believed in pursing harmonious cooperation with Afghanistan in all areas to ensure region’s peace and prosperity.
He appreciated Professor Rabbani for his efforts to bring stability to Afghanistan by taking on board all the stakeholders within the country.
Professor Rabbani recalled his recent visit to Islamabad to seek support for Afghanistan’s reconciliation efforts and the transfer of security responsibilities to local authorities.
Gilani said that his visit was aimed at reaching out to the Afghan public with a message that Pakistan was the well-wisher of Afghanistan and would continue supporting it attain political stability through its own means.
