PPP core committee reviews political situation, relations with coalition partners
ISLAMABAD, April 18 (APP) - A meeting of the Core Committee of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) held here in the Presidency on Monday with Co-Chairman PPP President Asif Ali Zardari in chair reviewed the present political situation in the country, relations with coalition partners and other issues of concern.The meeting expressed satisfaction with the outcome thus far of the policy of reconciliation and decided to continue with it in the larger national interest.
The meeting also attended by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani was participated by Leader of the House in Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Minister for Defense Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar, Minister for Interior Senator Rehman Malik, Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Shah, Minister for Textile Industries Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Senator Dr. Zaheeruddin Babar Awan, Senator Jahangir Badar, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Ms. Rukhsana Bangash, Ms. Fouzia Habib, Ms Farahnaz Ispahani and Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar.
Briefing journalists Spokesperson to President Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting was briefed by the President on his recent visit to Turkey with particular reference to the pre-feasibility of the proposed fast goods train between the two countries named after the Turkish President “Gul Train”.
The Prime Minister briefed the meeting on his visit to Afghanistan.The Co-Chairman said that now that more than half of the term of the government had been completed the party needed to shift gears to be able to usher into election mode when the time for it came.
He however said that elections will be held on time as laid down in the Constitution.The Co-Chairman said that the performance of each PPP Minister in the remaining period of the term will be keenly watched and scrutinized to decide on issues such as award of party tickets and party offices in the future.
The meeting decided to invite provincial Party Presidents to another meeting to be held soon to seek their advice and inputs on Party and constituency matters.
The meeting expressed confidence in the leadership of Party Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and in the government of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani.
