Govt making efforts for South Punjab’s development: Gilani
ISLAMABAD, April 21 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Thursday that the government was taking special initiatives for the development of less developed areas of South Punjab. Under a special programme of the government, he maintained, attention was being focused on the development of road infrastructure, electricity supply schemes and educational institutes in South Punjab.
Under this package, all the parliamentarians belonging to South Punjab are released the requisite funds for development, he added.
The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to a delegation from Multan at the PM House.
He observed that these areas would become at par with developed urban centres, after the completion of these projects.
The construction of farm to market roads, he added, would help agriculture flourish and improve the economic situation.
Pursuing the commitment of the government to extend educational facilities to all parts of the country, he maintained, the campuses of Allama Iqbal Open University and Bahauddin Zekria University were inaugurated to facilitate maximum number of students.
The members of delegation thanked the Prime Minister for his keen interest for the uplift of South Punjab. The notables include Saleem Labar, Naseem labar, Mushtaq Khan Magsi, Malik Muazzam Ali, Malik Saddat Ali and Dr.Akhtar Ali Malik.
