Govt to modernize communication sector: Gilani
ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said the government is formulating policies to modernize the means of communications in the country.  Railways, he maintained, is the cheapest and safest mode of land transportation in the world, and thus the system needs to be refurbished to ensure comfort of the masses and improved connectivity.
The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Minister for Railways who called on him at Prime Minister’s Secretariat Wednesday afternoon.
The Prime Minister asked the Minister for Railways to take measures to transform Railways into a profitable entity.
He also stressed upon the need to study the successful models of railways system in the neighboring countries. He appreciated the efforts for joint ventures with other countries to improve the services of Railways.
The Minister apprised the Prime Minister about various projects of his Ministry.
He also requested him to advise the Finance Ministry to release the requisite budget of the Railways Ministry.
The Prime Minister assured him for early release of funds for this quarter.
Dr. Hafeez Sheikh, Minister for Finance was also present in the meeting.
