Gilani for rejuvenating relations with Qatar
ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani while underlining the importance that Pakistan attaches to its close cordial and fraternal ties with Qatar, has called for reinvigorating the relationship through exchange of high level visits between the two countries. The Prime Minister invited Ameer of Qatar and also his Qatari counterpart to visit Pakistan while expressing the hope that these visits would be materialized in near future.
The Prime Minister was talking to Ambassador of Qatar Sayar A. Rahman Al-Mawdah who called on him at Prime Minister House here Wednesday afternoon.
The Prime Minister underlined the imperative of focusing on further promotion of trade, economic and investment ties, in order to add substance to the bilateral relations.
He called for implementation of all the agreements and MoUs already signed between the two countries and hoped that next session of Joint Economic Commission and its three sub committees on economic, military and oil and gas would be scheduled without any further delay.
The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in import of LNG from Qatar to overcome ongoing gas and energy shortages in the country.
He assured the Ambassador of Qatar,Sayar A. Rahman Al-Mawdah, of his and his government’s full cooperation in bringing the two countries ever closer and hoped that ambassador during his tenure of duty in Islamabad would concentrate on improvement of trade and investment ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
The Prime Minister asked the ambassador to convey his best regards to Ameer and Prime Minister of Qatar.
Sayar A. Rahman Al-Mawdah thanked the Prime Minister for sparing his precious time for the meeting.
He conveyed the best wishes of his Ameer and the Prime Minister to the Prime Minister,Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and assured him that he would take every possible initiative and endeavour to implement the decisions taken during the Ameer of Qatar’s last visit to Pakistan as well as in the last session of Joint Economic Commission.
