Chairman Three Gorges Corporation calls on PM Gilani
BEIJING, May 20 (APP): Chairman Three Gorges Corporation (TGC) Cao Guangjing called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here on Friday and discussed the prospects of increased Pak-China cooperation in water conservation and hydro power generation.The Prime Minister sought the cooperation and investment of TGC, which has one of the biggest hydro-power projects in the world, for the establishment of water conservation and hydro-power projects in Pakistan to meet its energy and water requirements.Gilani said Pakistan will welcome Chinese investment in Bhasha and Bunji dams as well as in small dams, adding, since Pakistan is facing energy shortage, the cooperation of TGC would be welcomed.
The Chairman TGC expressed his willingness to invest in hydro-power projects in Pakistan and said their investment would bring about enhanced economic development in Pakistan.
China Yangtze Three Gorges Project is one of the biggest hydropower-complex projects in the world and ranks as a key project for improvement and development of the Yangtze River.
The dam is located in the areas of Xilingxia gorge, one of the three gorges of the river, which will control a drainage area of one million square kilometers, with an average annual runoff of 451 billion cubic million.
