PPP to uphold democratic norms during Punjab budget, says PM
MULTAN, June 4 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Saturday that the party would uphold democratic norms and traditions during the presentation of the budget 2011-12 by the Punjab government.In a brief talk with the media here after opening newly built Multan city railway station and the inner ring road from Bahawalpur Chowk to Vehari Chowk in the city, the prime minister said that the PPP had rendered great sacrifices in the cause of democracy and thus it carries heavy responsibility has to respect democratic traditions. To a question on opposition’s attitude during the presentation of national budget 2011-12 in the National Assembly on Friday the prime Minister said that it was their democratic right.
The PM said the PPP would act in accordance with democratic norms during the budget session in the Punjab Assembly.
Gilani said Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had rendered innumerable sacrifices for the revival of democracy and the party would not let these go waste.
The new Multan city railway station was built at a cost of Rs 45.521 million and it would facilitate operations of passenger and express trains.
The four- kilometre- long and 10.59 metre- wide- inner ring road portion from Bahawalpur Chowk to Vehari Chowk was completed at a cost of Rs 532.30 million.
