Govt to use all resources to overcome Balochistan’s difficulties: PM
ISLAMABAD, June 13 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday assured the leadership of PPP Balochistan that the federal government would assist the province by pressing into service all possible resources to overcome it’s current difficulties. He said that the government was determined to address deprivation of the people of Balochistan in concrete terms. He reiterated that the Cabinet meeting scheduled at Quetta would be held soon after the budget session. The Prime Minister was talking to the President of PPP Balochistan and Provincial Minister Sadiq Umrani, who called on him in his Chamber at Parliament House.
The Prime Minister mentioned that during his recent visit to Quetta it was decided that the federal government would allocate additional Rs. three billion funds to subsidize agriculture tube-wells in Balochistan. He said that he himself would monitor the progress of the mega projects launched in Balochistan to ensure their timely completion.
He stressed upon the Provincial President of the Party to mobilize the workers, unite them and maintain close contact with the masses.
The Provincial President PPP thanked the Prime Minister for provision of funds to subsidize agriculture tubewells which was a longstanding demand of the people of province.
He said that this support would promote agriculture and generate economic activity as well as help address the sense of deprivation among the people.
Sadiq Umrani said that the Prime Minister understands the problems of Balochistan because he himself belongs to a region which has suffered due to lopsided policies of the past regimes.
Umrani apprised the Prime Minister about law and order situation in the province. He briefed him about the progress of the development projects launched in Balochistan for the welfare of common people.
