Efforts on to ensure good governance: PM
ISLAMABAD, Jun 14 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said the government affairs were being run in an institutionalized manner in order to streamline decision-making and infuse good governance in the country. Talking to a delegation of Awami National Party at the PM House, Gilani hoped that good traditions would be followed for the service of nation.
The Prime Minister observed that whimsical approach of the past regimes had badly affected governance in the country. He mentioned that the present government had made serious efforts to improve the governance through constitutional and administrative reforms like 18th and 19th Constitutional Amendments and NFC Award.
The Prime Minister said the government was committed to implement 18th Constitutional Amendment and the Devolution Plan.
He assured the ANP delegation that the government would make every effort to resolve problems of the coalition partners.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister phoned the Sindh Chief Minister and asked him to form a core committee of PPP and ANP MPAs to resolve day-to-day local issues of the coalition partners.
He also discussed the issue of life threat to a journalist belonging to Daily Ummat and asked the Chief Minister to provide him adequate security.
The Prime Minister also spoke to the Senate Chairman regarding inclusion of an ANP representative in the Senate Committee on Finance.
Reposing their confidence and trust in the leadership of Prime Minister, the ANP delegation thanked him for his keen interest in resolving the problems and ensuring uplift of backward and far-flung regions of the country.
They also discussed law and order situation in Karachi. The construction of Kurram Tangi Dam, Chashma Uplift Canal project and Munda Dam were also discussed in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Senators Haji Muhammad Adeel and Muhammad Zahid Khan, MNAs Ms. Bushra Gohar and Jamila Gilani, and senior officers of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
