Monitoring at western borders to help check infiltration: PM
ISLAMABAD, June 28 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said the joint strategy to monitor cross-border movement at the western borders would greatly help check infiltration of undesirable elements damaging the efforts to bring about peace and stability in the region.Pakistan, he added, desires the success of Afghan-owned reconciliation peace process which would positively impact the security environment.The Prime Minister was talking to Ch Ahmad Mukhtar, Minister for Defence who called on him here at the PM Secretariat to brief him on the recent development regarding security situation on the western borders.
The Prime Minister assured that the government would continue to support and help the armed forces enabling them to face the security challenges confronted the nation.
The Minister for Defence apprised the Prime Minister on the upgradation of defence and military installations as well as efforts to curb militancy.
