Gilani directs ED, FPSC to ensure 10% quota for women

       
ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Thursday directed the Establishment Division and the Federal Public Service Commission to ensure implementation of 10 per cent quota of women.Gilani directed that the Judgment of the Lahore High Court duly upheld by the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the allocation and observance of 10% women quota in CSS competitive examination-2008, as well as, for the year-2009 and 2010 for which examinations have already been held and allocation was pending.
The Prime Minister directed strict adherence to the allocation of 10% of the total vacancies earmarked or available for the provinces and regions to be filled from women candidates.
The quota was in addition to the existing eligibility to compete against vacancies of general and provincial and regional merit as well as against their 10% reserved quota in Civil Service of the Federation through competitive examination-2011 and onward.
Prime Minister’s directive was in line with the government’s policy of empowerment of women and also to implement the High Court and Supreme Courts’ judgments in letter and spirit, a statement from the PM House said.
