Gilani asks parliamentarians to monitor development projects
ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has called upon the parliamentarians to personally monitor ongoing development projects in their respective areas and give the government input regarding any improvement that is necessary to make them more viable and beneficial for masses.He specially asked the women members of the parliament to closely supervise women focused development projects initiated by the government to create gender equality in the society as it would greatly help in the overall progress of the country.
The Prime Minister was talking to Ms. Farkhanda Amjad MNA and Ms. Naeema Nisar MPA in a meeting at his Parliament House Chamber here Thursday afternoon.
The Prime Minister said in the wake of the recent devastating floods in the country the government has reprioritized its development agenda and has targeted those schemes which are near completion or their major work has been finished.
He added that this approach would ensure sustainable development in all parts of the country.
The Prime Minister said that for maintaining continuous economic growth the overall system of revenue generation has been reviewed and solid steps would be taken to make it more equitable and people friendly.
Ms. Farkhanda informed the Prime Minister about the status of the ongoing development projects in her area. She also appreciated the Prime Minister for his policy of continuing the development schemes despite financial difficulties.
Ms. Naeema Nisar, MPA, also briefed the Prime Minister about the development projects in her area.
