Ambassadors designate call on Prime Minister
ISLAMABAD, Jul 23 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Saturday urged the Pakistani envoys designated at various countries to work for facilitating people to people contacts with the countries of their accreditation to open up new avenues of cooperation. He was talking to Pakistan’s Ambassadors designate to different countries who called on him here at PM House this afternoon. The Prime Minister said economic diplomacy dominates the bilateral and multilateral relations among the comity of nations therefore concrete steps must be taken to facilitate the bilateral visits of the business delegations.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role in international peace keeping, the Prime Minister stressed the ambassadors to project the contributions made by Pakistan in the war against terror and the losses it suffered for sake of international peace and security.
“Pakistan is desirous of further improving its relations with all the countries in the interest of international peace and development,” he said.
The Prime Minister while highlighting the importance of promotion of cultural ties between countries urged these envoys to promote cultural exchange of delegations more frequently.
He said it would help better understanding of cultures elsewhere and also in promoting Pakistan’s culture.
The Prime Minister said it would also helpful in increasing tourism.
Gilani also asked the ambassadors designate to promote the true image of Pakistan at their respective countries of accreditation through utilization of all possible means.
He urged them to take proper care of the overseas Pakistanis as they are an asset for the country.
The Ambassadors designate thanked the Prime Minister for the confidence reposed on them in assigning important tasks.
They assured the Prime Minister for utilization of their abilities to come up to the expectations of the government.
The Ambassador who met the Prime Minister included Ms. Tasneem Aslam, Jauhar Saleem, Nawabzada Aminullah Khan Raisani, Rizwanul Haq Mahmood, Ms. Humaira Hasan, Dr. Fazal ur Rehman Kazi, Muhammad Saleem, Amjid Majid Abbasi and Afrasiab Mehdi Hashmi.
